Experience Bath at its most atmospheric on this low-light and night photography tour.
About the Dusk and Night Photography Tour
Our Dusk and Night Photography Tour is a three-hour private walking tour that focuses on low-light and night photography. Bath is just as photogenic at night as during the day, and we visit the best spots for taking photos.
This is a custom tour so you can choose when to start, although we recommend around one hour before sunset. That way, there is enough time explore Bath and shoot in the twilight before getting out the tripod for night photography. The tour typically starts around 8pm in June when the days are long, but 3pm in mid-December! Please contact us to arrange the time for your tour.
As this is a low light and night photography tour, you will probably want to bring a tripod and cable release. A wide-angle or standard zoom is ideal. A lens such as a f1.4 or f1.8 50mm lens (“the nifty fifty”) is also worth bringing if you have one.
During the early part of the tour we will concentrate on hand-held photography. You will learn how to set up the camera to take photos in low light, how to ensure correct exposure, and how to keep the camera steady. Later in the tour, after it gets darker, we will use tripods for longer exposures and focus on a number of key shot locations.
The light is often gorgeous on summer evenings in Bath, so we may walk up towards to the Royal Crescent and spend a little extra time there. Bath stone is at its best during the golden hour. For winter tours please wear warm clothes as we are outside for much of the time. Camera batteries can also run out more quickly when it is cold. Bath has plenty of pubs and cafes, however. So we can pop indoors to warm up and review photos if necessary!

We had fantastic evening being shown some of the best sights to photograph in Bath. We started in the early evening and captured the light of the setting sun on some of Baths beautiful buildings then as it got dark we were able to capture some of the historic buildings as they were lit up. – Nicola, UK
Thank you for a wonderful, enlightening evening on the night photography tour. You were a very patient, knowledgable and approachable teacher who adapted the plans for the evening well around the changeable British weather. We picked up skills which we are practising and using regularly now. – Norah and Michael, England
I am an experienced photographer and was spending 48 hours in Bath in late Oct. I highly recommend this tour if you want to see Bath in a limited time. The Crescent town houses alone are worth the investment. – Art, US
