A group tour designed for smartphone users. Learn how to get great shots of iconic Bath locations with the camera in your pocket!
About the Smartphone Bath Photo Tour
This is a 2.5 hour private group tour designed for smartphone users. Any phone or tablet that takes photos is OK. The walking tour is ideal for stag parties, hen parties, birthday parties, or corporate team building events. It also makes a great activity for a group of friends wanting to see Bath and capture beautiful souvenirs of their day.
The exact route is up to you or your group, but we often walk from Bath Abbey up to the Royal Crescent, taking in some well-known (and lesser known) Bath sites on the way. The best photo opportunities vary by season, time of day, light, and weather. So each tour is different!
On your tour you’ll learn about the fascinating history behind Bath’s architectural masterpieces. And we will also visit some photogenic locations only the locals know. There will be tips on how to use your cellphone for photography, such as composition rules, using photo filters, unusual angles, different photo ratios, and candid street photography.
Take a look at the photos above for a hint at what’s possible with a cellphone. For smartphone photo editing we recommend the Snapseed app, which you may wish to install on your phone before the tour.
Bath is the only whole UK city to be designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We think it is the UK’s most photogenic city too. So where better to put your smartphone through its paces?!

Tours are led by Tony McNicol who grew up in Bath and has spent 15 years working in the UK and Japan as a photojournalist and travel photographer. His photos have been published in media such as the Guardian, Daily Telegraph, Wired Magazine and National Geographic News.
In addition to countless hours spent roaming and photographing the streets and hills of Bath, he has worked on assignment photographing everything from Arctic ice-flows to Tibetan bee farmers to sumo wrestlers training.
Just spent the weekend in Bath on my hen party. Our activity was a photography tour with Tony which was an afternoon well spent! We saw parts of Bath we wouldn’t normally visit, had a lovely walk along the canal and learnt how to take a great photo. Everyone got involved and we all enjoyed the afternoon. It’s especially great to have pictures to bring home and Tony took some souvenir photos of the group too. – Chrissie, Wales
Our smartphone photography tour doubled as a great walking tour of Bath. In addition to seeing the expected sights like the Crescent, we also stopped in smaller places like the Georgian Garden which we would not have found on our own and thoroughly enjoyed. – Susan, Chicago.
